I've hit the 50,000 word mark for the new draft of Inevitable Dusk. Whoo! It might be close to the original count of 80,000, even though most of the material is new or greatly altered. And then there's the sequel. I think 75k-80k is a good length to shoot for, for both of Acio's books. Then I can move onto Sammy's story.

So, I think I can finish Inevitable Dusk by the end of the year. I'd like to finish Tsirris by the end of next year, along with Unquenchable (a book I haven't discussed here yet).

It's almost four in the morning so I should try to sleep.

I had several days of no writing.  D'oh!  But my brother came to visit and we had a lot of fun.  We saw Wreck-It Ralph and adored it; I recommend it, and I loved the nods to some of my beloved video games (mostly older ones.  My brother is up-to-date with newer stuff).

My back pain has been through the roof.  Even sleeping is very painful, whether on either side or flat on my back.  I'll probably try to ice it again when I go to bed.  Maybe a chiropractor would help; I don't know.  I'm having my neck and shoulder pains as well.  Adam helped loosen up my tension--he's a strong guy--and the pressure on my neck and shoulders hurt but it alleviated some of the pain.  He was shocked at how dang tense I am.  It's like my shoulders are made of cement.  Grandma's good at loosening up my muscles, too.  I might buy another heat pad, or improvise, but sometimes heat worsens it.

Anyway.  We got rain today, which made me happy.  I had the perfect writing conditions: Rain; caffeine-filled, icy, slushy Diet Pepsi Cherry soda; my writing playlist; and a purring Annie.  I've managed to get in over 2,000 words throughout the day.

Word Count

Today: 2,144
Total: 5,626

Tsirris is now at over 81,000 words.

Happy NaNoWriMo, everyone!  This year, I'm working on two projects I've already started.  Last night, I wrote over 1,750 1,730 words for Tsirris, and I hope for a similar word count today.  I might work on Abby's story intermittently.

My charger came a couple days ago, and I'm getting back into the flow of writing.  It's a great feeling.

The heat here has been crazy.  Yesterday, we had a very short power-out (maybe only five minutes).  It was during a writing session, and since my laptop needed more charging, I was glad it didn't last long (although power-outs can be strangely exciting, depending on the circumstances).

Yesterday, I wrote about 470 words for one of my newer Matagot projects.  Tonight, I wrote a little over 1,000 words for Tsirris.  I might commission cover-art for Tsirris's story soon!  More on that as it develops; I'm considering which route(s) to try.

On the health front, I'm dealing with some bad stomach issues.  I'm fairly certain my ulcers are back, and I keep putting off appointments because I'm a wimp.  I might need antibiotics or something.

On the flash fiction front, I hope to post one soon: the prompt from Clibanarius (http://clibanarius.dreamwidth.org) here: http://amanda-sheree.dreamwidth.org/29659.html#comments.

I typed up 1,500+ words of Tsirris today and did some heavy editing and rewriting on Chapter 1. I'd like to edit a chapter a day, because I have a lot of inconsistencies and things that plain need to be taken out or changed or expanded, depending.

Break time.

Tonight, I jotted down some notes on the fates of my Folmustians and their human friends. I couldn't get into a writing mindset; I better get my laptop charger ASAP. In the meantime, I do want to get *something* done. I could borrow Mom's laptop.

My NaNo goal is to complete Tsirris (the first full draft). Coincidentally, after class today, I figured out how I want to end the last scene. There's a tie-in regarding theme that plays off the novel's opening (if I phrased that coherently). Once this thing is all polished up, I think it will tell a decent story. It all hinges on the characters; hopefully they are likeable and distinctive.

News: My laptop charger is dead. Thankfully, my laptop is not dead (knock on wood). I can order a new charger around November 6th, so in the meantime I'm using Mom's laptop, but she doesn't have Microsoft Word, and I've been meaning to do some writing by hand, anyway. It gets me into this phase where things flow because I can't stop to analyze every single word. Then, the cleanup in the transfer to computer is pretty smooth.

So... Tsirris, buddy, I hope I finish your story soon! This one, anyway.

So. My various characters and worlds are bouncing around my mind and clamoring for priority. I'll have to use a mix of reason and inspiration, though. A loose guide:

1. Complete this draft of Tsirris! I love my aliens and they deserve to have their story finished. It doesn't have to be perfect, and I need to remind myself it's a rough draft.

2. Choose the next main, lengthy project. Forefront in my mind are my werewolves and my unspecified science fantasy. These are the stories that will take the most labor.

3. Choose a secondary full-blown project. These might be quicker to write, such as my Matagot stories. I might go with Brownie Points (my planned children's novel), though.

4. Work on novellas, short stories, and flash fictions.

I know I make these lists a lot. They help to organize my thoughts, even if I deviate from the plans. I'm hoping to wrap up Tsirris in about 20,000 more words; maybe I can finish it in November.

I've written over 1,000 words tonight for Tsirris. Yay! I'm probably off to bed soon. In the morning, I have reading to get done for homework, and then a critical response paper. I also have a mid-term this Thursday, but I'm going to try to fit in more writing throughout the week.

Over 3,000 words today on Tsirris. I hope to do more. This thing might end up longer than I thought; I used to think it would be 70,000 or 80,000 words.

Over 1,300 words for Tsirris so far tonight. Tired. I think I'm going to take a little break.

Last night, after my journal entry, I wrote about 300 more words for Tsirris. Tonight, I've written just over 1,200 words for Tsirris. Hopefully I can keep this up.

Over 1,300 words so far tonight for Tsirris. "Wonderful Night" by Fatboy Slim helped me get into the flow. Yay, music! I hope to write more tonight. This draft sucks, but as Ernest Hemingway said, "The first draft of anything is shit."

I'm excited to report that today, I have written over 2,300 words for Tsirris. It's pretty choppy and cruddy, but that's what editing is for, right? It's so cathartic to get something on the page. There is something to be said for music and playlists while writing! It helps get into the right frame of mind. Ash posted a playlist the other day that I should check out. :)

I plan to work on "Pernille" while continuing on Tsirris. I might make a light and playful playlist for the former. Or, maybe various tracks from Final Fantasy: Crystal Chronicles. That music is gorgeous.

Break time. I don't know if I'll write more tonight.

Much earlier today, I wrote over 600 words for Tsirris. Slowly but surely? I hope that I will keep a steady pace with it, especially since I've jotted more notes.

In addition to working on Tsirris, I've been working on, "Pernille." As I said earlier, I plotted the entire story using a synopsis guide as a...guide. I've accumulated 769 more words for the actual draft, and hopefully will get significantly further into the story tomorrow.

So, over 1,300 words for my day's writing quota isn't too bad.

Today, I've written over 1,800 words so far for Tsirris. Like I said before, I love it when the words flow. Overall, I'm in about 52,600 words. If I can keep a pace of over 1,000 words a day until the end of April, it might be possible to finish this draft soon. I'd love to stick to that goal, but I know there's a good chance that I won't make it that soon.
